The Gaslight
For as long as I can remember as a child and until I went
off to college, we spent most every Sunday at my maternal grandparents’
house. After a simple but grand Pennsylvania
German meal, we would retire to the living room. Taking turns at the piano (later an organ),
my Mammy Barry, Uncle Larry or mother would lead us in hymns like How Great
Thou Art or popular songs like Tammy.
One night in 2009, I Googled musical auditions, and I found one the next morning at Old Academy Players in East Falls. I had never heard of the theater even though it was where Grace Kelly had first stepped on a stage.
Providentially, at Old Academy Players I met Don Kawash who eventually invited me to join him in a venture he called Gaslight Productions entertaining retirement communities, churches, synagogues and even a university for 5 years. During that time Don and I created nine different programs of Classic American Popular Music and performed at over 100 different venues about 200 times. This was my real musical education.
I am incredibly happy to present you our Dave and Randy Do All Gershwin show!
